Astrid Zweynert
Astrid Zweynert is a journalist and photographer. She worked for nearly three decades for the international news agency Reuters, where she reported from over 30 countries, working on some of the biggest news stories in recent times.
In her photography, Astrid explores the real and the imaginary in urban and rural landscapes, often gathering material during walks with her dog Roxie. Most recently, she has been creating black and white images with multiple exposures, blurring the lines between what we appear to be seeing and what might be unreal.
In 2024, Astrid graduated with distinction from the MA in Photography and Urban Cultures at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her dissertation explored the role of urban nature during the Covid pandemic, including a visual project on how immersing herself in nature during daily park walks helped her cope with the twin challenges of living in an unprecedented global health crisis and being diagnosed with a chronic illness.
Astrid’s work has been exhibited in the UK, in galleries such as Photofusion and Espacio, and in Spain and Croatia. She is an active member of London Independent Photography, where she participates regularly in the group’s annual exhibition and helps organise photo walks for her local group. She is also a member of the London group of the Royal Photographic Society.
She joined the editorial team of London Independent Photography's FLIP magazine last year as deputy editor, working to stimulate debate and to bring photography to a wider audience.
