    Birmingham Prefabs
Conservation groups and residents are fighting to preserve these prefabs in the Birmingham suburb of Moseley.

Some of the Wake Green Road prefabs have been listed as buildings of special historic significance.
Many prefab residents have lived in their homes for decades.
At first looked upon with suspicion by the general public, prefabs soon became very popular homes due to their amenities and clever design - and gardens, often at the front and the back.
The residents have a huge sense of pride in their prefabs.
One of them is Christine Gregory, who lives in Britain's largest prefab estate - the Excalibur in Catford, southeast London. She is threatened with eviction as the council wants to redevelop the area.

The next slide is a short film my colleague Claudio and I made about Christine when we went to the Excalibur Estate.

The Prefab Museum has collected details about prefabs and their residents from many countries and is preserving their heritage.
